Leading Aircraftman Holgate was one of three airmen killed in the crash of their Anson (#7339) aircraft during a bombing practice; the crash occurred at Willow Grove, Ontario, 3 miles east of the bombing target, following the mid-air collision with another Anson. Four airmen in the other Anson also perished in this accident.
